Hong Kong is gearing up to celebrate International Yoga Day 2019

International Day of Yoga 2019 day is already creating a buzz across the world and Hong Kong is no exception. This was one of the successful initiative launched by PM Modi govt, and recognizing its universal appeal, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga by resolution 69/131.

On the occasion of the 5th International Day of Yoga, there are many events have been planned across Hong Kong to celebrate the international yoga day that aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga.

Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.

  1. Asia Society Hong Kong Center

When and Where: Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 11:15 AM – 5:15 PM at Asia Society Hong Kong Center 9 Justice Drive, Admiralty, Hong Kong

Asia Society Hong Kong Center and India in China (Consulate General of India, Hong Kong) will collaborate on an initiative to address mindful living through the philosophies and practices of Yoga.

This one-day event will comprise of a series of yoga sessions suitable for people of all ages and abilities. Special classes for families, teens, professionals experiencing daily stress as those with physical challenges will be included. Workshops on meditation and talks on holistic practices of well-being such as Ayurveda & Mental Health, Meditation, and the Art of Breathing will be held through the day. Sessions will take place in English and/or Cantonese. There will be healthy food options available for lunch/snacks for participants of the event.

HK$20 per session. Online registration required.

2. Art of Living

When and Where: Yogathon 2019 – 108 Challenge| 22 June 2019 (Sat) 9:00am – 12pm at TST District Kaifong Welfare Association 136A Nathan Road, TsimShaTsui, Kowloon

Yogathon aims to build healthier and happier communities through Yoga.

Associated with the event, more than 55 free practice sessions are held at AOL center and other venues, which are available for participants to book after registration.
