The Indian Consulate of Hong Kong, Chinmaya Mission and Shrimad Raj Chandra Mission Dharampur (HK) Ltd made an wonderful and noble event of planting trees at Tung Hang Mei area of Mui Wo in Lantau Island, Hong Kong on occasion of “Celebrating 150 years of the Mahatma”.

Across the World the tree plantation drives are being arranged for this celebration and Hong Kong made contribution in best way too. This event is 2nd in series of “Celebrating 150 years of the Mahatma” after Cycling event which was organized in March 2019 earlier this year at Tai Po.

There were 70 participants from different age groups with high spirits to contribute towards this noble cause gathered sharp at 7 AM at Admiralty. 150 saplings for 150th anniversary were planted by all the participants on dry patches near the mountain on Mui Wo. It was quite a challenging One Hour trek but wonderful organization by volunteers (Mr Palak Kothari, Atul Jhaveri and Jinang Shah) of Shrimad Raj Chandra Mission Dharampur made it a cake walk for everyone. Under skilled Leadership of Mr Kirit Doshi, the volunteers organized for Smooth Bus services from Admiralty to Mui Wo and from there expertise of “Ark Eden” was arranged to help with all tools and saplings and fertilizers for planting the trees on mountains led by Ark Eden Team.

The minuscule details like providing Insurance for all, Food Packets in morning breakfast and for Lunch prepare by Mrs Nayna Doshi, Water, Drinks, Tshirts, Caps, Indian Flags and much of love and comfort made this event a very satisfying experience to contribute towards nature in best way.

The Nobility of organizing such events, from Indian Consulate and Shrimad Raj Chandra Mission Dharampur (HK) touched each every participant’s heart and soul.

This one event was small effort of conserving nature. As Gandhiji rightly quoted, “Be the change you wish to see in the world”
